Direct B.Arch Admission in Top 10 Architecture Colleges in India under Management Quota Seats -A 5-year Bachelor of Architecture, or B.Arch., is a professional degree program. Students take classes in design, building materials, architectural history, and architectural theory. Students also build models and complete design projects.

Students must have an understanding of the arts and humanities, as well as a basic technical understanding of structures and construction. Skills in communication, both visual and verbal, are essential.

While knowledge and skills must be developed, the design is ultimately a process of critical thinking, analysis, and creative activity.

Architecture Governing Body in India – The Council of Architecture (COA)

The Council of Architecture (COA) has been constituted by the Government of India under the provisions of the Architects Act, 1972, enacted by the Parliament of India, which came into force on 1st September 1972.

The Act provides for registration of Architects, standards of education, recognized qualifications and standards of practice to be complied with by the practicing architects. The Council of Architecture is charged with the responsibility to regulate the education and practice of professions throughout India besides maintaining the register of architects.

For this purpose, the Government of India has framed Rules and Council of Architecture has framed Regulations as provided for in the Architects Act, with the approval of the Government of India.

Eligibility for B.Arch Admission

No candidate, with less than 50% marks in aggregate, shall be admitted to the architecture course unless he/ she has passed an examination at the end of the new 10+2 scheme of Senior School Certificate Examination or equivalent with Mathematics as subjects of examination at the 10+2 level.
or
10+3 Diploma (any stream) recognized by Central/ State Governments with 50% aggregate marks.
or
International Baccalaureate Diploma, after 10 years of schooling, with not less than 50% marks in
aggregate and with Mathematics as compulsory subject of examination.
and
Must appear in NATA and score a minimum of 40% Marks.

NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture)

As per the Minimum Standards prescribed by the Council of Architecture (CoA) under the Architects Act,
1972, admission of candidates to the first year of 5-year B.Arch. degree course shall be subject to their passing an aptitude test in architecture.

It is advisable to admit students in the 1st year of the 5 year B.Arch degree course on the basis of marks obtained in the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) administered by CoA.

The Aptitude Test consists of two papers:-
Test -I: Aesthetic Sensitivity
Marks: 100
Duration: One hour

Test – II: Drawing
Marks: 100
Duration: Two hours

Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT)
